Travel Assistance Fund

IAFS 2017 Travel Assistance Fund – is now closed

IAFS 2017 wants to help increase forensic capacity in lower-income countries by supporting attendance of their promising forensic scientists, doctors and practitioners who otherwise could not afford to travel to Toronto. These delegates will return with new knowledge and contacts that will make a difference in their home countries.

To support these delegates IAFS 2017 is offering:

  • Lower registration fee for delegates from low and middle income countries
  • Lower cost accommodation options

IAFS 2017 is also seeking contributions to a Travel Assistance Fund, including from corporate sponsors and from voluntary personal contributions to a “sponsor a delegate fund” by other delegates.

The number of eligible delegates who can be supported by the Travel Assistance Fund and the extent of funding provided depends on how much money is raised by IAFS 2017. It is the goal of IAFS 2017 to fund as many delegates as possible for travel related expenses including registration and accommodation.

Applicants to the Travel Assistance Fund will:

  • Come from a low or middle income country as defined by The World Bank
  • Submit an abstract that has been accepted for presentation (poster or oral).
  • Complete the PDF fillable
  • Submit a letter of intent that outlines how their attending IAFS 2017 will make a difference to their forensic practice
  • Provide two letters of recommendation, a CV and a personal photograph (“headshot”)

Deadline to submit completed application: March 10, 2017

Please confirm visa requirements for travel to Canada.
