As one of the charter members of Confederation, Ontario’s story has always been central to the story of Canada. As such, Ontario will play a leading role in recognizing the significance of this historic landmark, as it did at the time of Confederation, and as the nation marked its Centennial.
This milestone presents a unique opportunity to create strong economic, social and cultural legacies for Ontarians, with a particular focus on youth. As a time of celebration, and a time to share aspirations, it is also a time to support, challenge, and encourage young people to prepare to lead in building and thriving in the future they envision.
Working with key partners, Ontario is planning to mark this milestone with a number of initiatives across the province, giving rural, urban and northern communities the opportunity to showcase Ontario’s contributions to Canadian culture, sport, innovation and diversity.
