Welcome to the International Association of Forensic Sciences 2017

    Conference Welcome Message

    Dear Friend of IAFS,

I am honoured to be President of the International Association of Forensic Sciences, 2014-2017, and to be organizing the 21st Triennial Meeting of IAFS in Toronto in August 2017, together with our partners, the Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, the University of Toronto and Tourism Toronto.

The IAFS encompasses academics and practicing professionals in the forensic specialties. Since 1957, the IAFS has delivered an international conference every three years to allow the forensic community to meet and exchange ideas.

We recognize that forensic sciences have an important truth-seeking role to support human rights and justice. Your IAFS 2017 organizing committees are working hard to deliver a scientific program that will be relevant, cross-cutting and future-focused through the theme, Inter-Professional Collaboration in Forensic Science. Topics have been selected to highlight humanitarian aspects of forensic science, and reflect our interest in promoting evidence-based practices.

We hope to attract young forensic physicians and scientists from all over the world, particularly from developing nations, who can strengthen forensic capacity in their own countries.

Toronto, Ontario, Canada is ranked as one of the best cities in the world to live in because of its attractions, safety and diverse population. IAFS 2017 will take place during the 150th anniversary of Canada and Ontario. We are excited to introduce our international guests to our beautiful city, province and country and our wonderful people.

IAFS 2017 will be a remarkable opportunity for continuing education, professional development, and making connections and lasting friendships.  I am looking forward to greeting all of you in Toronto in August 2017!
